“The Five People You Meet in Heaven” is a 2003 novel by Mitch Albom that tells the story of Eddie, a man who dies saving a little girl and goes to heaven, where he meets five people who have each played a significant role in his life. The novel has been adapted into a 2004 film of the same name, starring Jon Voight as Eddie.
The film’s cast also includes Jennifer Lewis as Ruby, a prostitute who was Eddie’s friend and confidante; David Morse as Blue Man, Eddie’s abusive father; Michael Imperioli as Captain, Eddie’s commanding officer in the Vietnam War; and Ellen Burstyn as Marguerite, Eddie’s mother. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $100 million worldwide.
