Do employers have to pay covid pay in 2022?
The answer to this question is yes, in some cases. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was passed in March 2020 and required employers with fewer than 500 employees to provide paid sick leave to employees who are unable to work due to COVID-19. This law expired on December 31, 2020, but was reinstated in March 2021 through September 30, 2021. On October 1, 2021, the FFCRA expired once again, and there is currently no federal law requiring employers to provide paid COVID-19 leave.
